I am appealing for your help for the treatment of my husband Antim, 52 years old, who has been suffering with his eyes since he was a child. Operated as a child with lenses removed with aphakia, amblyopia due to anopsia and convergent strabismus, narrowed and faded optic nerves, pupil elongated, wears glasses of 9 diopters. Nearly a year ago his condition worsened. We went to hospitals, it turned out he had an adherent leukoma-connective tissue that had reached the iris and keratoconus.

In addition, calcifications had formed. In June, on the recommendation of Assoc. Andreev we did abrasion, which removed the calcifications, but the leucoma remained. In Octomri they also did a laser which was supposed to remove the leucoma.

But from both surgeries the condition has not changed much because the cornea of the right eye has darkened.

Unfortunately it turned out that there was also corneal degeneration,for which Assoc. Andreev recommended transplantation. However, so far they have only been hanging us with treatments and not issuing us an offer from the clinic. We were referred to Turkey for treatment by doctors we know, since the private clinics here in BG did nothing.

The funds for checkups,tests and treatment in Turkey as well as a possible transplant are prohibitive for our family. Antim is a pensioner with 85% disability, he does not work because he is very limited due to his illness. I am a teacher and we support a student.

I am asking for your help, dear people, so that we can find a treatment in Turkey, for which funds are needed. I will attach epicrises, outpatient sheets and tests.

At this stage the amount is only for check-ups, treatment and expenses. When they issue us a pro forma invoice or quote for the transplant, I will attach the document and the new amount for the surgery.
