Hi...
My name is Gail Parker. A 44-year-old single mother to my 13-year-old son, Miguel. I live in Eldorado Park, Johannesburg -South Africa.
I've been working since the age of 18 and still hold a permanent position currently. The last 2 years have been extremely hard on me financially as I made some very irresponsible financial decisions. My mental and physical health has been affected as a result. In September 2024 I suffered a mild heart attack.
Miguel's dad died in when he was only 8 making things extremely hard. As a teenager now, Miguel wishes to have things that other people have like play stations, soccer boots etc. There are so many social ills in my community including drug abuse and gangsterism. I do not wish for my son to end up with the wrong crowd.
I am looking for a better paying job and will forward my CV to anyone who can assist in this regard. I've worked for very good companies including SAB, SANBS, Sanlam, Eldos FM (community radio station) and Standard Bank.
Our current need:
1.School fees for Miguel 2025: R1850 per annum
2.Rent to cover 2 months: R4600 (the 2 bedroomed house that we currently live in is delipidated but it's a roof over our heads)
3.Transport to and from work: R750 per month (bus tag)
4.Secondhand fridge: R2000
5.Second tv: R1500
6.I also do dressmaking on the side and would appreciate donations in the form of fabric, haberdashery and cash towards my side hustle please.
In total I need to raise around R20000.
Please help Miguel and I restore our dignity and lives. It hasn't been easy. He is a bright boy and has fully recovered from his kidney op that he had in 2019 Oct.
He deserves better.
