След близо 3 месеца лечение по сменения протокол с новото лекарство за таргетна терапия Imbruvica (ибрутиниб), на 22-ри април направихме контролно ЯМР, за да се оцени ефективността му. За огромно съжаление се установи нова лезия в мозъка на Иво, този път в хипоталамуса. Веднага изпратихме резултатите на лекуващия му лекар в Турция, който ни извика спешно на преглед на 25-ти април.
След като оцениха състоянието на Иво, лекарите стигнаха до заключение, че лекарството за таргетна терапия не е достатъчно, за да стопира развитието на лимфома и трябва да се премине към 20 курса лъчетерапия на мозъка и гръбнака и след това, ако се стопира процеса, да се продължи с нов вид имунотерапия.
Тъй като състоянието на Иво се влошава, лъчетерапията трябва да се започне възможно най-бързо и на 5-ти май трябва да сме в болницата, за да се направи първото облъчване.

After nearly 3 months of treatment on the switched protocol with the new target therapy drug Imbruvica (ibrutinib), we had a control MRI on April 22 to evaluate its effectiveness. Unfortunately, a new lesion was found in Ivo's brain, this time in the hypothalamus. We immediately sent the results to his attending physician in Turkey, who called us for an urgent follow-up on April 25.
After assessing Ivo's condition, the doctors concluded that the targeted therapy drug was not enough to stop the progression of the lymphoma and that we should move on to 20 courses of radiotherapy to the brain and spine and then, if the process was stopped, continue with a new type of immunotherapy.
As Ivo's condition deteriorates, radiotherapy should be started as soon as possible and we should be in hospital on May 5 to have the first radiation treatment.
